My Dear Friend Gamble Taught Me How To Truly Play A Guitar .. His Finger Picking Style Is The Very Foundation Of My Blues Guitar .. God Bless You Gamble , There Will Always Be A Very Special Place In My Heart , My Dearest Friend ... Jojo Taylor !
I met Gamble in Miami when I was a senior in high school. When I left Miami to attend the Univ. of Florida, I started seeing him regularly, and we became friends, inviting me to a party once where I met the woman I'd marry a decade later. He was a once-in-a-lifetime entertainer that just happened to be an incredible guitarist as well! An irreplaceable artist. Gamble, I miss you more than I think you would have expected me to........
Gamble was just one of those rare performers, with no "attitude" and just wanted to share with others, as well as learn from them. I met him at a weekend music folk fest, he just hung out with the rest of us, giving as well as receiving licks! Super nice guy. He sure is missed.
Watched Gamble play at the Beef and Bottle in Gainesville numerous times back in the '70's. He'd always take a break, sit at my table, drink beer, and talk guitar with me.
