In this last 1 and 1/2 laps (a total of six turns), I get in position to win the field sprint, sliding up through the pack with with 6 and 5 corners to go, and then slinging up the inside as we pass the start/finish. I patiently wait until the final corner, riding wheels all the way to the front and then put the hammer down, accelerating and catching the breakaway right at the line. • yes - you got it

  • Hmmm.. I suppose that's possible but word on the street has it that mid-western crits are considerably faster than anything on the west coast. That said, this was a rather small field and an early season race.

  • not bad, 3/4? the break rider shouldn't have looked back

  • Its a Masters 1/2/3 race - not a huge field

  • @curtmastor Colorado has some of the fastest crits I have ever raced in, from 4's to 2's. We haul ass up here, because we train so much on the mtn's. Texas is fast, but a different kind of fast.

  • @djacri iv never seen cali crits but I heard nm arizona oklahoma and texas have the fastest speeds year in year out becuase cat 1's and 2's move or train in colorado or utah then do races in sea level states.

  • @Schwerdtfeger1000 one of best crits in the country is mayors cup in boston.

  • Sweet video! I did criterium in New Hampshire last weekend. I think you guys should come to New England. We have some seriously fast criterium racers around my area.

  • how did you rfilm this?

  • @oldtwins lol what?

  • wasnt the smartest idea for the group to slow down at 0:45 ... thats what seem to have allowed ya to get into a more front forward position for the sprint. this is why in most pro races it seems as if the pace is always kept high so it's harder for people to do that.

  • You left your run too late, you were quite lucky the field slowed down so much coming into the first corner of the last lap and you could slip up the inside.

I've been in race were if you aren't in the top 10 1km out, you generally don't have much hope at all.

  • Very interesting. But how would Lance Armstrong do in this race?
