For more than a decade, metal detecting has been banned in Central Park. But more than a dozen protestors, some brandishing metal detectors, marched along the east side of Central Park on Thursday morning, calling on the city to lift those restrictions barring them from treasure hunting in the city's "crown jewel" of parks.

  • All these freaking stupid ass people that want every law imaginable, need to go live on some stupid island, where they can have all the stupid ass laws they want.

How the hell did we ever survive "THE GOOD OLD DAYS"???

    Keep up the fight.

  • Keep fighting the fight, what the hell is wrong with all these damn people, making all these stupid ass, damn freaking laws?? I may have saved someones kid From falling onto a big ass rusty nail preventing them from having a eye poked out, or from having to get a tetness shot. I don't know any people that metal detect leaving any damn holes in the ground, that's BULL SHIT.

  • Keep up the fight guys ,it's important !!

  • heyyyyy those r my parks too !!!!! im a nyc taxpayer....keep fighting !! we're with you !! nyc should issue permits and correct hunting / care of lands pamphlets

  • I love metal detecting, and I recently bought one to detect on the shores of southern orange county, CA. I used to live in NYC , as well. It seems easy to see their point of view. Central Park represents a treasure trove and if they allow detacting, it might turn into a bit of a gold rush and a nuisance, with holes being dug all over the place, and not necessary being returned to the condition they were prior to digging. I don't know how to counter that argument-- it should be taken to court

  • Great job NY CITY DETECTORISTS!! KEEP UP THE FIGHT!

  • I will be keeping track of this because I would like to hunt that place if they decide to lift the ban!!

  • FUCK THESE BANS!!!!!!!!!!

  • Good luck in your cause and I hope you are heard!

    Best,

    Chris

  • Wow, this just motivated me to do just the same up here in Carbon County PA. I'm missing out of many sites and parks due to the same reasons. I pay taxes too! I could think of other things they could focus thier attention on! Not us harmless detector guys. Way to go my friends in NYC, That's my home town also. Don't stop the fight. I'm right there with you all!
