Trixie, Cassie, and Toughie

Gosh my voice is annoying... sorry about that XD

This is one of my current breeding trios. Storybook's Tough Love (Toughie) is the boar, Storybook's Trixie and Storybook's Cassie are the two sows. Both sows have had litters before, but this will be the first time Toughie sires any litters. Trixie is due at the end of January, Cassie probably in late February. All of these cavies have at least three legs to their name (legs are also awards in showing, a cavy needs three legs to be considered a Grand Champion), and I'm excited to see what their babies will look like.

I talk to guinea pigs LOL.

What cute little pigs! I love them! What type of bedding are you using? I am still experimenting with different types of bedding to figure out what is best, and the easiest ways to clean the cage, etc.

Thanks! I use kiln-dried pine shavings over pine pellets. You can usually get both from a feed store for relatively inexpensive. As long as the pine shavings are kiln-dried they won't have the harmful phenols that can give cavies respiratory problems. The pine pellets really absorb a ton of moisture, so we put some in the corners, under the water bottle, etc, and then cover it with shavings. It's worked great for us :)
