U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Seattle District, hosts a news conference and briefing on the impact of interim repair work being done to the Howard Hanson Dam and its impacts regarding potential flooding in the Green River Valley (South of Seattle, Wash.). Includes the announcement that flood risk for the communities of Auburn, Kent, Renton and Tukwila for the '09-;10 flood season have decreased from 1 in 4 to 1 in 25. It is still not the 1 in 140 year protection provided by the dam at full capacity; but, improved all the same.
