Grain Tower Sea Fort is a disused sea fort at the entrance of the River Medway (east of the Grain Power Station) in Kent. It is mostly intact and can be accessed via a causeway at low tides. Although most of the military equipment has been removed the ammunition hoist is still in place. Once you are inside the fort all areas are accessible, from the lower ammunition stores to the top of the observation tower approx 80 feet above sea level.

  • Interesting! I have also been here recently. Have you been to Harwich fort?

  • No I'm not familiar with that, I've sailed out of Harwich, but every time I do it seems to be dark or raining so I've never seen it. I lke the Grain tower because it's open access, me and a few freinds are hoping to head out and spend a few nights on it soon.

  • one day me and my friends took a ladder out and went down there! as you will know its full of water but back then it was waist full! it was just full of other rooms down there, and on one wall you will see where we attempted to bash in to another room that was blocked!

  • i lived out grain when i was a kid. i used to go out to the grain tower all the time theres a big square hole in one of the rooms that used to scare the crap out of me

  • I've just discovered this place. Shame it's not further out to sea then it could become a seperate state like Rough's Tower did.
