It cost a minimum of $30,000 a year to house an inmate (and that was in the early 90's---im sure the cost has gone up since then). Imagine someone who escapes the death penalty and gets life. Lets say he lives at least fifty years. That's 1.5 million billed to the taxpayers. Now imagine in the course of that time 20 guys getting life sentences. Now you're talking 30 mill billed to the taxpayers. Sad.

i think that all murders, who intentionally take another life, without cause (i say without cause because I could understand a husband killing his wife's secret lover in a fit of rage) should automatically be hanged, no matter what state they live in. Im talking about the serial killers, guys who rape and kill children, gang memebers who do drive bys and pull off executions, suicide bombers, stuff like that. Automatically hanged within three days.
