Sweeney Todd (2007) - House of Cards

To this day I'm not quite sure whether I like or dislike "Sweeney Todd". I was unsure after watching it for the first time last year - and going through it a second time now when extracting the scenes for this video still hasn't helped me make up my mind.

I LOVE the dark atmosphere and the visuals (Sleepy Hollow meets a gloomy version of Moulin Rouge).
And I absolutely HATE the accompanying music.
It's not the singing that bugs me (I found that to be surprisingly good actually), but the melodies of the songs that to me just aren't enjoyable.
Good thing I don't ever use songs from the movies' original soundtracks for my videos. ;o)

I hope those of you who like the original soundtrack can still appreciate this video despite our different taste in music... :-D

such a pro, not a glitch, i think at 1:31 the image should have been more bombastic to fit the music hahah, that is a very over the top remark no doubt, i would have picked the image just after that when he is standing up raising the blade actually. when he is looking at the blade its just a bit casual, there is no rage in that scene like the music depicts.

I always try to put a certain chronology into the scenes I pick so that the clip will make sense even to people who haven't seen the movie yet.

Using a different scene at that point would have messed up the entire order, and I would have had to re-arrange things or even drop some stuff, which to me wouldn't have worked.

This is my all-time favorite video for Sweeney Todd. This song by Audiomachine has been one of my favorite trailer scores for a while now (perhaps beat only by "Serenata Immortale" by Immediate).

You have great editing capabilities. Even though you alter parts of the film's chronology, you do it in such a way that it makes sense. Which is great. I love this video and try to watch it at least once a day!

this should have been the official trailer for it =) it really brings out the heartbreak that is thruout the entire story. it would have gotten a better audience if the official trailer was more like this =)
