Its weird listening to this after listening to the Thin Lizzy version and the Metallica version..

But theres something refreshing about it

You cant listen to Irish Folk music and be depressed afterwards.....Its impossible

Metallica's my favorite band and I agree. When I want to hear a louder (to me, roudier) version, I listen to Metallica's. When i'm listening more for the musical value of it all though, Thin Lizzy's and even this one is a little more enjoyable.. actually, on Pandora, I just heard some group called Darby O'Gill perform a version. and I gotta say it's the best of all I've heard. check that one out!

Everybody talks about the Metallica cover... but you should check out the one Thin Lizzy did on 1973 (just search here and you will find a nice black and white clip of it).
That was first Thin Lizzy hit on the charts and it's 99% the same as Metallica's one.
Just for information... I like both of the covers.

(Actually, this is also a cover, of course... who knows who was really the one who tried to love Molly ;-) )

I love this type of music, mainly because it was what American Bluegrass evolved from. Or that's what it seems like to me, with the fiddle, banjo, 'n all that.
