This game is awesome. The controls work really well. Just play through the tutorial and you will get all the skills you need to play the game. Back when it came out many though that a motion control had to be a simple "swing" like Wii Sports, and instead found a game that actually required skill. Those who didn't play it for more than 10 min hated it. Those who played it for 30 min and got the hang of the controls discovered an exceptional game.

LAIR was no so much a bad game as it was a game that had one thing that ruined the whole experience. i thought the voice work and story (for the most part), visuals, soundtrack, sound design, and game-play were all solid--but the controls never quite work the way they should. for the most part you feel like you're just flailng around the whole time trying to make the game work for you. i love dragons too much to sell it though, haha!! it's a beautiful game for dragon-lovers.
