A (rather useless and boring) video of the Windows 7 Internet Explorer 8 exploit used at Pwn2Own 2010
I removed the most boring part at the beginning so it skips from 8% to 95% saving you almost 2 minutes of waiting.

  • Doesn't matter, it also started calc. Which means he could have run anything he wanted, like deleting your entire hard drive or a shell script to download some other software from his server.

  • Opening up Windows Calculator is a standard test for hacking the browser. It's a harmless proof that you got control of the computer and can run arbitrary programs on it. A malicious hacker could replace Windows Calculator with other more sinister programs, such as one that steals your data or infects your computer with all sorts of bad stuff.

  • Why are the comments from few months ago when the video was posted 4 days ago?

  • so good hackers can do pretty much anything they want to pretty much anyone's computer. I think maybe the government allows this to enhance National Security and essentially protect this country. Problem is that it's not just the government looking to hack into people's computers whenever needed. There are evil people out there just lurking and ready to steal your data and destroy your computer.

  • @djg38 omg just by entering into a webite with this malicous code right? dude can I ask u something in which language is it based ty

  • @Palmer640 ok, then your right. what you can do though, is to trick windows update if possible into downloadin a linux kernel.... then make a partition of linux and blah blah blah, and through linux format the drive...

Yes, Linux have an option and a smart technique to format themselves :p dumb aint it?

  • @benteta Well, I mean locally, you can't delete the entire volume and format the whole disk that you're operating on... It will stop at some point. You can delete/format a lot of it and it will still do a lot of damage though. :P

  • @Palmer640 actually you can. by using the same method as DR. Delete to delete files. set them to delete on the next startup. yes, the ones needed might stay, but theres an option to format the disk remotely..... microsoft, you never know
