A Ride on Gozo Bus FBY 075 from Marsalforn to Victoria. It is badge up as a Leyland Tiger Cub but I think it is a Bedford OB. Could any one confirm what it is. Watch to the end to see the bus at Victoria Bus Station.

  • it's FBY 057 not FBY 075... This has a locally built chassis by Zammit (probably using either Bedford SL/SB or AEC Mercury parts) and fitted with a Barbara body. It was new in August 1969 and has previously carried registrations 2522, A-2522, Y-1520, Y-0819 and now FBY 057. Hope this helps :-)

  • @rdstedall Sorry about that, iv'e miss-typed the reg. I was on Gozo in late june and 057 was out around the island.

  • leyland national engine me thinks

  • That could be possible. The buses of Malta & Gozo are a bit of a mixed up bunch, you can never be sure what bus it is. A lot have had some major rebuilds/ conversions over the years.

  • This is FBY057 (Not 075)

This chassis was assambled locally by Zammit with a Barbara body and was completed in 1969. It was new as 2522 on the Zabbar route (red with blue band)

    Later registrations, A-2522, Y-1520, Y-0819 & FBY057.

The Leyland Tiger Cub badge is there just for decoration, as are the majority of the other Maltese buses.

  • Sorry about getting the reg wrong, I mis- typed it. Thanks for that information about the bus. I have just returned from gozo and saw 075 around the Island. I have taken a video of a Bristol LH which I will be uploading later

  • yup..it's a Leyland alright..have a lot of these in Fiji...

  • @myfeeling4you yes it does. Manual transmission, and one windshield wiper. And the entrance doesn't have a door. You just walk right on, EVEN WHEN THE BUS IS MOVING!!! With only one windshield wiper, it made it really hard for the driver to see out the opposite side when making a left turn or trying to watch for passengers.

  • now this is an old bus

  • That brings back memories!
