After the collapse of the Atlantic Cod Fishery, New Bedford, Massachusetts is trying to remake itself into a tourist attraction. It is also a cautionary tale for fisheries around the world -- especially now that scientists have discovered that we are consuming the final ten percent of the planet's large fish. This raises a fundamental question, "Is it within our power to undo the damage that we have already done?"

Once considered an inexhaustible source of food, the oceans are now in danger of being significantly depleted. Matt Damon hosts "The State of the Planet's Oceans" as award-winning filmmakers Hal and Marilyn Weiner investigate the health and sustainability of the world's oceans and the issues affecting marine preserves, fisheries, and coastal ecosystems worldwide.
