Lions in the Street - half of whom are originally from Regina, Saskatchewan, not too far from Neil Young's teenage home of Winnipeg - were victims of NYC's notorious TVT Records. Their fight with the label led the Lions to self-release their *Cat Got Your Tongue* EP independently, after TVT put the band in the record label matrix: they wouldn't release what was to be their debut LP (recorded in Los Angeles with Jamey Johnson producer Dave Cobb) or release the band from their contract, despite offers from other labels.
This is one of the tracks recorded as part of a 'Live at the Verge' session for XM radio, at the end of a lengthy self-funded US/Canadian tour that, along with legal costs, nearly bankrupted the band and forced them into menial jobs (garbage man, etc) to pay their bills.
The band self-released a full-length LP in 2009.
Now debt free and working with a new label, look for Lions in the Street to release new music in the fall of 2011.
