@icemaneu All creatures are part of the same family. When Siddhartha became enlightened, he knew this better than most. Attachment leads to suffering, he said. So he unattached himself from his family, while understanding his attachment to all other beings in the existence. He wanted to be enlightened so he can remind people that false attachment to one thing and spiritual attachment to everything are different things.

The Buddha loves his family more than anyone else. It is for this reason that he left them. He wants to find the solution to overcome the four sufferings of life and attain happiness for his loved ones. He want to find a way for his family to escape from the mortal sufferings that everyone will suffer in live. That is why when he gained enlightenment, he went back home to teach them his new found knowledge.
