They are pretending to be cool and adventurous. But they are not at all. They had 2 vans and a doctor behind them on the road all the "travel". So many real men do this with a 2.000 dollar bike, a tent and all alone. This is another movie by McGregor, not an adventure.

@gyrate4 Looks like he grabbed too much front brake and in an effort to negotiate the turn he turned while doing so. This caused too much weight to shift to the front while the wheel was going ever so lateral. The wheel's traction breaking while the bike's weight was pushing it in a direction other than where the wheel was pointed is what threw him.
