According to CobraKing619 this was footage of a tornado near Arapaho, Oklahoma on May 22, 1981, the same day as the mile-wide Binger tornado and the 'Wizard of Oz' Cordell funnel. Captured by a KWTV news helicopter, the first time this ever happened (a news helicopter capturing a tornado that is).

  • Not the Binger tornado. That occurred later that afternoon. In the days before GPS, the chopper crew didn't know exactly where they were. And because there were multiple tornado warnings at the same time, KWTV was airing the first live footage of a tornado from a helicopter without knowing where it was.

  • actually i think this is the start of the binger tornado

  • i was there when this thing hit i was 2 years old we all ran to the courthouse's basement that day. I dont remember it but my mother sure as hell does.
