  • I remember in All shore choir we did this. We shouldn't of. It turned out horrible. For one we didn't have an orchesstra and not nearly enough time to learn all three parts. All state is where its at. Still a beutiful piece

  • @Linkjoy123 this piece is 8 parts.

  • Bernstein left a note in this score that he wanted a boy to sing the solo, and if not a boy a counter tenor. In my experience performing this piece, this part should always be left to a boy. The innocence in the soloist voice is vital to its meaning. However, Ive witnessed more than a few times a highly qualified Alto passed up for a way to dominant Counter Tenor. This young singer was perfect for the part. Honestly I long to hear an Altos performance of this solo.

  • Such an innocent voice.

  • @JoshieChavira1 LOL Josh I forgot that both you and I were there in that choir! xD It's Matt KF

  • @malchikcrazy09 I think Linkjoy123 was referring to the 3 movements.

  • I rember studying with Maestro jessop in utah, when i got to rehearsal and started to

conduct the mormon tabernacle choir the power that came form the the opening movment of this pice was too amazing, and now i am doing this pice with a high school choir and orchestra, the same power that came for the mtc came from this 200 voice high school chorus. what a amazing conductor.

  • The solo sounds good, but the child needs improvement in enunciating the consonants better.

  • @broadwaybrent367 - I have to agree here, especially in THIS rendition. He's adorable, but cute doesn't cover the beauty in that solo, or the need for sustained phrases and a fearless performance. That solo is not for the weak at heart!

  • @JoshieChavira1 ,

I was in region 9 when we did this concert. Region 9's concert was NOT better and dare I saw it was one of our weakest years. Yes Region 9 is a strong and very talented region but the all state choir out sang us in everything we did, rest assured.

  • @theblahbook I am a counter tenor who has performed this solo, the video on my page is not the one I'm proud of. I have another one coming in late March. But I feel like with a little boy you loose a lot of the musicality that can be had.
