An overview of the upcoming DIOR system (Drive-In Occupant Restraint). Designed with personal mobility in mind, wheelchair occupants will be able to drive into the lap and shoulder belt while also locking into their QLK Docking station.
The forward actuation of the floor arms helps keep the lap belt portion above the knees. As the occupant drives into place, the lap belt adjusts downward and results in ideal lap and shoulder belt geometry. As the occupant exits, the arms raise the lap belt and return to their upright position.
Open arm wheelchairs (as shown in video) can make the most use of the DIOR system as the arms allow for the lap and shoulder belt to already be setup. For closed arm rests, the DIOR arms may be locked forward and the lap portion disengaged. This will allow the DIOR arms to be placed in close proximity to the occupants hips, allowing them to feed the lap and shoulder belt through the wheelchair armrests with minimal effort.
Users wishing to replace the OEM seat into the vehicle will also be able to make use of the DIOR system. By simply pressing the release on the male buckle of the in-board side, the OEM seat can be inserted between the arms. Once a user is seated, they would use the DIOR system as a regular lap and shoulder belt.
Ideal geometry will be determined during the installation.
