Roisin Murphy discusses music, fashion and I'm Every Woman

Based on the theory of 6 Degrees of Separation, the project is bringing women in the UK together with women living in poverty, in the fight for women's rights and an end to the violence they face.

The single, I'm Every Woman, is a cover of the Chaka Khan classic, but with 6 artists as innovative, exciting and individual as Amanda Ghost, Michachu, Roisin Murphy, CockNBullKid, Alessi's Ark and Sinead O'Conner - this was never going to be a straight rendition.

Flipping the original on its head, I'm Every Woman is a call to action, echoing the sentiments of 6 Degrees that whatever is going on in the world, we're in it together

I love this woman and her music. I have been following her since a friend turned me on to her from the first Moloko Album. A great artist. Her Music almost never leaves the player in my car or my home for the last decade! Her and that musical team are brilliant.

Here's a funny, I was watching Madonna's new celebrate video and I said to my friends, "She's been watching Roisin Murhphy!" They all laughed and agreed. Roisin is worth following.

Likewise, I love her music, and was lucky enough to see her two or three times in Europe when touring with her most recent album. I'm now living in the States and would love her to come out here! I can see her music fitting with fans of some of San Fran-based OM Record's output, so we'll have to wait and see...

A woman is a mother. She needs to know her children's mind... that is how women are emotionally entagled to another symbolism than men. They read it, socially this is a conciousness that is basic. Males are the exception, only Y-chromosome memories. We never left the maternalistic society, you realise that like no one else.
