I wish I had known of Mattie years ago...but he died when I was 5. I am currently reading "Messenger." If you watch me read it, you may see me smile to all his funny pranks he did or with a sad look for all the bad things that happened, but the book is amazing. No one can ever forget Mattie.

I fell in love with this little boy when I first saw him as the MDA youth spokesman the 1st year and prayed that somehow a miracle would be in his lifetime. It was the first year I called in a pledge he inspired me so much. I cried when he died like I had lost a child of my own. jeni I honor you for the gift of your precious little boy that you shared with us and aloowed us all to be touched and moved by a true angel. Such extrordinary young person. Every day we live, we should try not to take for granted who this bright young boy was. Mattie was a hero figure to many people including myself because he truly looked at death as a new begining instead of an ending. Rest in peace my friend.

What a extraordinary little boy--with an extraordinary intellect, heart and love --to share to the entire world. His work on earth will far exceed his 13 years we were blessed with!

Filled with the 'behind the scenes' day to day life of Mattie... with fire fighters, with MDA, with family and friends, in the hospital and at home... the simple stories of wit and wisdom and sadness and hope that led to a powerful legacy of peace.

Jeni.Wow what an amazing young man Mattie is.I heard about your books through Anna Taylor,I shall definatly be getting "Messenger" I shall then buy all the others as I have 3 children Jamie 20,Nadine 13and Aaron 11(who suffers from Autism),and I feel that Matties poems will teach and touch them in a way that they understand.Mattie touched my life just from watching a short film.
