i noticed you mentioned the smell in the beginning. I've not tried shishaco, but I have used coconaras and they also have a smell when lighting. I figure its the same....when I order more tobacco from john I'm gonna have to get some coals too.

No taste change for the most part..During the first few minutes you might notice a slight coal taste but thats normal with ANY coal.
