  • Hi GimmieURcookie - there is only a few things that could go wrong:

The fabric shrinks due to water tempature Or when dried the pillow did not dry enough and it causes issues. Always be sure to dry extra - at least two cycles - maybe 3.

  • I think I read that too fast - if it is a down pillow you simply do the same thing and give it some chops - you won't hurt the down.

  • Mark - great question - if its a down comforter - you simply need to give a little karate chop where it clumps. You can also chop on the bed to shift the fill evenly in the square on thed bed. Only cheaper polyester tends to ball up and become harder to spread smooth.

  • Man, I wish I had new pillows to pull out of my drier when the pillows I just washed come out looking like crap and feeling like compressed packing peanuts. Mind showing us how the REAL washed pillow looked after you were done washing it?

The correct answer here is, FORGET washing your pillows just throw them out when they start looking a little yellowed and buy new ones to save yourself the massive headache of sleeping on a flat pillow.

  • "Maximum heat cycle" ? WRONG! Down pillows should be dried on no higher heat than medium - especially in a small home dryer. It is best to use a large capacity dryer like as found at your local laundromat. Also, only use a cleaning solution especially formulated for cleaning down. Don't use common soap or regular laundry detergent. It will likely be too harsh or leave a residue on the down that prevents it from lofting fully when it is dry. Weigh pillows to confirm complete dryness.
