I have a nice camera in possession and with the busy schedule of the calls from the hospitals that I work at as an ER doctor, I have not been able to use it enough. I managed to put aside time to shoot for an entire day, from 5am to 6pm in the city of Recife, Pernambuco. I met up with a friend of mine called Wagner, and we shot a lot of great images. Wagner also shot a bunch of still photos of me in action for my behind the scenes blog, but I still have not had time to accomplish this...

We pushed around all the gear with the use of my truck putting it in the back of it and also at other times lifting the heavy equipment for almost 12 hours ourselves. It was close to 90 degrees and many people were outside enjoying the weather at the beach of Boa Viagem.

I did many time lapses with the manfrotto 625 panning/tilting head and all of them where set at one frame for every one second.
Most of the footage in this short was filmed with the one camera only. Some of the Boa Viagem time lapse and the street at the shopping Passo Alfandega at the end were shot almost at night with the same camera and some with the iphone 4. You can see the difference (as far as seeing the quality in the shots) compared to the super sharp and clean image from the camera itself versus the iPhone 4.

The shooting locations for this short were the Boa Viagem, Olinda.Downtown Recife, Bairro da Boa Vista.

I shot this short with the Sony PMW-EX3, Letus Ultimate, Manfrotto 625 tripod system, and Nikon manual 35mm film lenses.

I used mainly these lenses: Nikon 200mm f4 tele, Nikon 300mm f4.5 tele, 50mm f1.4, and the 16mm f2.8 fisheye.

I color graded in post with my own secret brew using Magic Bullet Looks. I also used Twixtor to slow down some of the footage to 26-55 percent. The ripples in the water look great when processed with the Twixtor 4.5 plug-in.

I shot most of this film in 720 24p in over crank mode (60 frames per second). A few of the shots were shot at 30p.

The music is "Mr. Sulfan Stevens" Adlei and it has been remixed. I must thank the kind people at Recife and Boa Viagem allowing me to shoot inside the beautiful Beach.
