RAN campaigners confronted Dominion Resources CEO Thomas Farrell at Bank of America's annual investment conference at the Ritz Carlton in San Francisco on September 15. On the same day, RAN and others blockaded the construction site of a Dominion plant in Wise County, VA (see this account for video).

  • I wonder is these people know anything about power generation or financing? Either way if we lose power or we lose finance the World will soon be chaos. My point is Dominion and other Energy producing companies are working towards cleaner power but it takes time. Coal is very abundant so it cheaper for the consumer and since energy will always be in high demand they will keep burning coal until other resources become readily available that can produce as much energy as coal.

  • Environmentalists usually argue points without much knowledge on the subject. Like the picture with the plume, that was taken in cold weather. It's the moisture in the flue you're seeing, just like how you can see your breath when you talk in the cold. Also, billions are being spent to clean up these plants, removing acid gases before reaching the atmosphere. Plus, coal is abundant domestically, and much cheaper. Maybe ok for them, but I can't afford $500/mo for supposed "clean" electricity.

  • Propaganda video. The truth is that utility companies are investing hundreds of millions of dollars on clean coal technologies such as scrubbers to protect the environment. It would be interesting to see the result to our infrastructure of pulling all coal-fired power plants offline. The environmentalists would change their tune very quickly.

  • I live within eyesight of the proposed dominion power plant. I know how things work here and how crooked and lopsided the power in charge is.

In 1994 a large coal silo stood on the site that dominion owns now. I remember when it was torn down and talk about how there was going to be a power plant built there. The power plant was green lighted 15 years ago and now they are just going through the motions to make it legal.

It's too late for us, we know our fate is sealed.

  • May I ask who you are with sir?
