yes, the post-movie episodes are more in depth, more layers, darker in nature. As far as optimus and the seeming silly/simplicity of the original series, they did I think 2 episodes where the dead autobots were brought to life just to try to kill the new autobots.....villanizing them and putting them out of peoples minds(including optimus prime).

i don't get what everyone has against G2 it seems to have like allooooooooooooot better storyline and "logic"(for as far as it goes in 80 cartoons:p) i mean shhhhhsss....ofcourse optimus...we miss him...but i find the new characters so full off emotions and personalty
