Although not extremely difficult, China Roses is one of the more challenging of my arrangements in the book "Fingerpicking Enya", mainly because it starts in the fairly guitar friendly key of E , but ends up in the not-so-friendly key of F, and the key change is a very necessary part of the song.

This is my second upload of the China Roses, mainly because I didn't feel my first recording did the song justice. I wanted to re-record it using the Zoom H4n, which I didn't have at the time, and also, hopefully, play it a little better. I hope you enjoy it!

  • Larry this is so beautiful. Larry +1 more enya video tally. I can hear the guitar scratches clearly here. Shows how crystal clear is the recording.

  • @musicfamily Thanks, Jeremy! I don't think this one counts in my Enya tally, since its a "re-do". But its such a beautiful song, and I don't think my first version did it justice, both because of the sound and my playing. Do you guys do this one, by the way?

  • @oldwhtman Thank you, Mike! You're right, some of those songs are challenging to arrange. But the funny thing is that if it works, I can almost convince myself that the song was actually meant for guitar; the original starts sounding like an arrangement! (but I'm sure Enya would not agree)

  • @gallito1010 Thanks, Jose! This is one is one of my favorites.

  • @ohioflyfisher Thanks!

  • Larry you do an amazing job of arranging Enya tunes for the guitar. She does not make it easy. Most of her recordings seem instrumentally muddied and her voice blends in so much that it's hard for me to hear the melody she's singing. Great job . . . too bad she doesn't play guitar.
