@ubermensch811 Duruflé spent the majority of his childhood in monastery choirs, so chant was among the first music he learned. This piece is written in chant, so the choir is technically correct. However I agree with you that it is such a beautiful piece, the emotivity could be brought out wonderfully. My chorus sings it a little slower, which accomplishes a lot for the emotion.

@ubermensch811 From listening to a few different interpretations of this piece it seems most sing it more or less in this way. But I definitely understand your point, and I agree that that is a valid interpretation. However if you look at the lyrics, which is from where you should always draw inspiration and interpretation, singing it as a lullaby is definitely an appropriate way (of many). And I personally think it fits in with the music as well. Even though I agree with your interpretation too

Here is a translation of the lyrics into English, taken from Wikipedia. Where charity and love are, God is there. Christ's love has gathered us into one.
Let us rejoice and be pleased in Him. Let us fear, and let us love the living God. And may we love each other with a sincere heart. Amen

I dont like this performance..the quality of the sound is gorgeous but it sounds more like a lullaby..it seemed like they started the piece as if it were the ending. I dont think this piece should be sung like chant..the suspensions yearn for emotive expression!!

"nos sincero" is possibly the most peaceful part...
