altair dosent have a finger because when you become an assassin to have a hidden blade means a sacrofice to who ever welds it so in otherwords the blade cuts it off

Basically, The hidden blade latches on where his finger used to be and he is able to move another finger to "Activate" it... it is comprised of a gauntlet-like object on his arm and the blade itself along with the mechanism that "flicks" the blade out.... Also the more Assassins part is that in order to weld such an weapon, an "sacrifice" is required from the assassin
