The Roman legion (from Latin legio "military levy, conscription," from legere — "to choose") is a term that can apply both as a translation of legio ("conscription" or "army") to the entire Roman army and also, more narrowly (and more commonly), to the heavy infantry that was the basic military unit of the ancient Roman army in the period of the late Roman Republic and the Roman Empire. In this latter meaning, it consisted of several cohorts of heavy infantry known as legionaries. It was almost always accompanied by one or more attached units of auxiliaries, who were not Roman citizens and provided cavalry, ranged troops and skirmishers to complement the legion's heavy infantry.

  • Rome was a light in a world of darkness

  • @Repporio96 we don't know that, the Han Empire out numbered the Roman Legion in millions, it would be like 500k Roman Legionary vs 3 million Imperial Troops, and also we must think of a terrain, Chinese will win in a open field, but on the other hand I think that a well fortify Roman Army will win just like Caesar at Alesia, the point is we can never know because their are too many factors and also it depends on what general vs what general

  • What's the song that isn't in English at the 1:40 mark? Thanks! Great vid!

  • Nice video, it seems to me that numerous scenes relate to the siege and the fall of Yodfat, First Jewish–Roman War.

  • We would like to talk to you, gabrielrobles29@yahoo.com

  • @MJFAN666 Ummm Sun Tzu is from the Wu Kingdom, the 3 kingdoms was after the end of the Han Empire

  • @TheRedemptionRain lol. Yeah man. I think The Romans would have more morale than the Chinese. Very important. But, I am not sure again. The Chinese army WAS very very well trained. Under Sun Tzu atleast. And he DID write the art of war. I think Sun Tzu would beat most generals, I think. Agrippa or something may have a change.

  • @MJFAN666 May be, I don't know I am not a military expert, but to tell u the truth that their are so many things that u need to put encounter that it is nearly impossible to tell, so I can't say which one would win in a all out war

  • @TheRedemptionRain hmm. U say that a well fortified Roman cohort/legion can win against a chinese army? Again, I am not sure about that. I think Chinese had superior long range weapons.. like composite bow and very very powerful ballistas. Also, as far as I know, the Chinese invented the first version of trebuchet. It should have a higher range than Roman Catapults. The Chinese also had fairly sophisticated fortifications themselves. Forgive my spelling errors.

  • @casperblack30 LOL I can see why you though Hun Empire instead of Han Empire, but I also mention things like Chinese and Imperial Soldiers, so it wasn't that hard

  • @TheRedemptionRain sorry I misunderstood but that discussion is not much related so the confusion

  • @MJFAN666 Sun Tzu was part of the Wu Kingdom, that is when the Han Empire split into the 3 Kingdoms, so that wouldn't be Roman Empire vs Han Empire, that would be the Roman Empire vs the 3 kingdoms
