The Dykhouse Student-Athlete Center is the next step toward attaining the universitys goal of providing athletic facilities that promote the development of SDSU student-athletes as LifeLong Champions. In November 2007, South Dakota philanthropist T. Denny Sanford made the largest gift to date to SDSU Athletics when he gave $5 million toward the Dykhouse Student-Athlete Center in honor of his longtime friend and business associate, Dana Dykhouse. At the same time, the Dana & LaDawn Dykhouse family provided an additional $1 million toward the facility. Because of these historic gifts, as well as their life-long commitment to SDSU athletics, the facility will be named the Dykhouse Student-Athlete Center.
