Yes he did lie, but for the right reason to protect Elvis's dignity . Joe is a good man, he meant a lot to Elvis.

I think Joe Esposito was trying to save Elvis a bit of dignity, being found dead on the bed sounds a bit more dignified than being found dead on the toilet floor. You have to remember this is so soon after they had lost their friend, they would still be in shock.

@hitcan79 elvis ,s family had addiction in there genes , his mother drank herself to death and two of his cousins died from drug addiction,.....oh and try not to swear on this site it just makes you sound like the type of guy who would defend joplin and hendrix against elvis stay respectable or i wont bother replying .......dont tantrum and sulk ....THATS THE WAY IT IS !!!!!!!!!!!!!

@hitcan79 oh give over,all those others portrayed what they did with pride,elvis never did , he was loved by children parents and grandparents,and there is no comprison to joplin and hendrix,they were only cool to junkies,elvis was cool to familys all over the world, and it would not have been good to tell the world elvis died from drugs , ...it was expected from hendrix and joplin and all the other onterage they had , but not elvis , it is explained in certain documentarys by employees

u can see how sad charlie is having talked to him just the night before discussing the new songs that elvis wanted to sing. Charlie & Elvis had a great friendship ever since the army. and its right elvis deserved this last part of dignity. we all know the real reason but to hear elvis died in bed sounds alot better then to say he died in the bathroom.

@MrPaulthe1st what about Jimmi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, and many more, shit there were more drug deaths back then than there are today, and ya people did drugs back then cause it was "cool" look at studio 54 and all that shit, cocaine, this and that, We dont even know what is in the Real autospy report on Elvis Presley and we wont because Vernon had it so it was put away for 50 years, no one can read the real shit in that report until 50 years after Elvis died, so we dont know shit

lets just be modern about this im a great elvis fan , but you got to look at the real story , he died of a drug overdose and it was coverd up because it wasnt cool to do this in 1977 today it isnt a shock when famouse people die from drugs but it wasnt like that then , thats why his autopsy report is mostly missing , that was done by his dad and priscilla to keep his name from shame , those demarol just took there toll on him .... it was a great shame but its as simple as that..
