You didn't talk about any proper way to hold the sticks and to move the fingers. You don't want to rely on your arms, it should be one movement for each set of 2 strokes for each wrist - and as you get better the wrists should move less and less. People who excel in double stroke rolls can balance a penny on their hands because they only use their fingers! You can see from watching that at a certain point in speeding up you switch over to the fingers instead of arms. Smooth doubles though!
