SurfCube is a web browser for Windows Phone available at the Marketplace. It has an interesting 3D interface. Swipe from edges to open tabs, settings, or the address bar. If you're not used to the swipe gestures, you can enable the bottom menu to navigate through the app. I'm showing it here on the Nokia Lumia 800

Even though the user interface is interesting, I really like that SurfCube 3D Browser can open the touch version of Facebook. I can't get Internet Explorer to render it correctly. The Mashable mobile site is also another one that Internet Explorer can't seem to render.

Here are the features for SurfCube 3D Browser. The version shown in this video is 4.0
- tab support
- Portal reading mode: any page can be set to open links in new or background tabs by default
- Full HTML5 compatibility
- Share a page via email, Twitter, Facebook, Windows Live and LinkedIn
- Supports landscape and portrait orientation
- Orientation lock
- Pin pages to start menu
- Desktop Mode
- Search (Google)
- Private mode
- Can run under the lock screen so returning after being powered off is instantaneous
- History and favorites to help finding that website again
- Bandwidth saver mode - for sites that don't have a mobile mode. Even images can be turned off for a truly fast and low cost browsing!
- Save Images to your phone
- YouTube video playback (to remove ad, buy the full version)

More features are planned. SurfCube is $1.99 but there's a an ad-supported free version as well. Try it out and let us know what you think!

  • They should change the "Private mode" to "Porn mode".. :)

    Great review!

  • I just tried those two web pages on my WP, with IE and worked fine. It's also strange that surfcube browser would have such capability because it uses the Trident rendering engine, the same as IE. No third party browser is allowed to use other rendering engine... For now. So the main difference between IE and Surfcube or other third-party browser is UI.

  • IE whether on phone or on desktop/laptop ..it always sucks !!

  • @RAIKON80 I have to back RAIKON80 up. I loaded Facebook's Touch site and Mashable's site in IE9 on my Focus and they worked just fine.

This isn't to say that SurfCube isn't interesting, but not for the reasons that were listed in the video.

  • It looks neat, but looks like it could be a little annoying too. Good to see that the WP7 has another browser to choose from, I hope that market picks up.

  • I'd like to see when the iPhone gets this done.

  • Damn !!! cool features dude.i'm ganna buy it in no time !

  • Really cool

  • thanks, don't have a WP phone yet but I'm sure I'll get one soon. I currently have a Nokia n8 but either way I like to know what out there. Thanks for giving the community useful information.
