Author, photographer, and landscape designer Rick Darke reads from his new material in 'The Wild Garden: Expanded Edition', focusing on the idea of wildness and why it is so important to today's gardeners and stewards of our shared landscapes.

Originally published in 1870, William Robinson's revolutionary book 'The Wild Garden' envisioned an authentically naturalistic approach to gardening that is more vital today than ever before. The expanded edition, published in November 2009, includes new chapters and over one hundred color photographs by award-winning photographer and landscape consultant Rick Darke, placing Robinson's concepts in modern ecological context and illustrating an inspiring diversity of contemporary wild gardens.
Thanks for the amazing reminder Rick!!!

Just bought this book on my iPad.
If it doesn't have a upc it's better.
If it walks on 2 legs instead of 4, it's better.
If it swims it's better than that that walks at all.
If it stands on one leg (plants & fungi), it's better.
If it's organic, it's better.
If it's raw, it's better.
And best yet, when it's wild.

How can there be no excited comments beneath this video after over a thousand viewings? The message is so profoundly wise and so remarkably well represented by the Sydney Smith quote, thoughtfully brought forward to this generation by Darke and Timber Press. For what it's worth, this woman is standing, applauding, shouting praise and feeling gratitude from her Homemade Wilderness. ~ Joy B.
