C3 Our Mangroves Our Future Video Pt2

One of our first educational projects involved the production of a 20-minute educational video on mangrove conservation issues in Palau. C3 collected footage of mangrove forests around Palau and was kindly donated footage from other researchers and film-makers. We collaborated with Roll'em Productions, a Palau-based film production company and Belau Cares Inc., to produce 'Our Mangroves, Our Future' which is repeatedly shown on local television stations and has been distributed to the Ministry of Education and other environmental organizations in Palau. The film was narrated by a Palau High School student who is interested in environmental and community affairs.

This is the first video on mangroves in Palau and is a valuable means of conveying information to people about the value of mangrove forests and the need for sustainable use and management in the future. It is particularly timely as The Bureau of Agriculture and Forestry is conducting community consultations throughout 2004 in order to assist each State in preparing its own Mangrove Management Plan. The video production was funded by the Government's Committee on Natural Resources & Development.
