Yes as far as I can recall, that is normal behavior. :) they are putting their tentacles out to catch things in the water to eat. :)

I'm sorry, I really can't remember what the brand was. I did buy it at Petco though, it came in a clear bag. I don't think it was live sand, just plane jane white sand. =] You don't want to have a lot of sand in there, no more than an inch. I had a clownfish in there that would stir up the sand constantly, and that helped to keep it nice looking. You could get a sand sifting or bristle star or something to stir the sand. Weekly water changes w/ SG/temp/ph matched water really help too! =]

Thank you . I just do 5 gallon water changes each week. How long has your tank been up? because I had green algae for a while but it slowly went away. I ha ve live sand, live rock, hermit crabs and mexican snails to help with cleaning. =] good luck.

Appreciate it.... I love watching them as well. The substrate is simply a sand mix that I bought at Petco. My clownfish likes to make a moutain out of it right in the middle of the tank, which is also neat to see. :)
