My 4th lesson on how to play the Kinnor - the ancient Jewish Lyre, once played by King David, & by my very own, very ancient, VERY cool Levite ancestors...over 2000 years ago, in the Temple of Jerusalem!!

In my 4th lesson on how you TOO can teach yourself to play utterly funky replicas of 3000 year old lyres once played by King David himself, as he danced before the ACTUAL Ark of the Covenant etc, I discuss exactly HOW I finally found a way of making my grotty, dismal, desolate, dire, dreadful little sparse, un-spacious spare room in Salford,(AKA "Chav Capital of the North!),Lancashire, UK...sound like the haunting, mystical, ethereal, acoustic resonance once heard over 2000 years ago...in the TEMPLE OF JERUSALEM!!!!

I use "Ahava Raba" tuning to play Shalom Aleichem:CD(tonic)EbF#GABbCD(t­onic)Eb. In my next lesson, I'm going to dictate the actual notes to this melody, and also to "Hatikvah"...WATCH THIS SPACE!

Wonderfully funky video. That said, technology changes, human nature doesn't, and David would recognize virtuosity and sensuality for their own sake today as yesterday (that's why he favored the kinnor: to avoid all that). On the other hand, the worshippers of Bacchus would ask you, "Show us how to make that equipment!" (that's why they favored the reed pipe and drums: the sexual instruments of antiquity). Throw in a sax and they'd make you their pagan high priest. :)
