Personally I prefer the cgi version of episode 6, the special edition. But as far as songs go, I like this one better.

  • How can you possibly call yourself a nerd while also claiming that the CGI version of ANYTHING in Star Wars is superior. That is absolute nerd heresy.

  • @ChefEspeff, I never said it was superior I just said I prefer it. That's just my opinion. For the record, I prefer the original unedited trilogy. Unfortunately, George Lucas's prequels has ruined the saga for me. So now I just pick the pieces that I like, and omit what I don't like. That may not make sense to you, but that's how I look at this story now. It's a shattered classic, broken by it's own creator. To me anyway.

  • @Revenge0fTheNerd I just ignore the entire prequel trilogy as non-canon. Makes things enjoyable again! :D

  • @PromusKaa God bless you. I wish I could do the same. I can't get past the fact the prequels were made by the same person who made the original trilogy.

  • Well...in all fairness, they WEREN'T made by the same person. Lucas has completely changed his philosophy when it comes to movies - just listen to Original George in the "From Star Wars to Jedi" documentary, where he talks about how effects should only be used to serve the story, and shouldn't be the focus of the film, etc. He's completely different from his current self! Not to mention the prequels go against previously established canon, so by definition that makes them non-canon anyway!

  • Why I prefere this is because not because of the shitty 'Jedi Rocks' but because this had alot of atmosphere to it. It added to the unwelcome and unpleasent feeling of Jabba's Palace.

  • I always wondered how different the original scene was compared to the Special Edition.

The 1 time (since I got into Star Wars) the original release of Return of the Jedi was on basic cable (which was in late 1997), my Dad & sister wanted to watch something else.

We didn't have TVs in our bedrooms at the time.

  • Man, I remember this song playing on Star Wars Battlefront 2 at Tatooine

  • @Revenge0fTheNerd Yes, thing is, he didn't write the scripts for some of them, he just supervised, unlike the Prequels. XP

  • @PromusKaa Indeed. It's baffling how a man who used to be an artist that was passionate and creative about his work has destroyed it to the point of ruining the emotional impact of the crucial scene where the story's central tragic character redeems himself. 'Philistinism' is a strong word, but I cannot really find a word that I feel is more fitting for Lucas' constant tinkering with his own films. He is diminishing the very depth, charm and beauty of his own work!

  • 43 and 44 second are hilarious with the guy playing the flute/clarinet. They way he moves is funny as shit! Great vid, this is a better version than the new one!

  • lucas was seuced by the dark side of film amking

  • This song is WAY better than that crappy one that replced it :(

  • ...correct me if i am wrong but Lucass only directed Ep.4. The Empire Strikes Back was directed by Irvin Kershner. The screenplay, based on a story by George Lucas, was written by Leigh Brackett and Lawrence Kasdan. Return of the Jedi was directed by Richard Marquand and written by George Lucas and Lawrence Kasdan. Funny how Lucass gets all the credit for the Original Trilogy yet he was only one of the five top people, not including all the other many talented people that contributed...

  • This is still the jam!
