Mohammed's Radio:
Everybody's restless and they've got no place to go
Someone's always trying to tell them
Something they already know
So their anger and resentment flow

But don't it make you want to rock and roll
All night long
Mohammed's Radio
I heard somebody singing sweet and soulful
On the radio, Mohammed's Radio

You know, the Sheriff's got his problems too
He will surely take them out on you
In walked the village idiot and his face was all aglow
He's been up all night listening to Mohammed's Radio

Don't it make you want to rock and roll
All night long
Mohammed's Radio
I heard somebody singing sweet and soulful
On the radio, Mohammed's Radio

Everybody's desperate trying to make ends meet
Work all day, still can't pay the price of gasoline and meat
Alas, their lives are incomplete

Don't it make you want to rock and roll
All night long Mohammed's Radio
I heard somebody singing sweet and soulful
On the radio, Mohammed's Radio

You've been up all night listening for his drum
Hoping that the righteous might just might just might just come
I heard the General whisper to his aide-de-camp
"Be watchful for Mohammed's lamp"

Don't it make you want to rock and roll
All night long Mohammed's Radio

  • i know this is the OGWT but anyone know what year this was?

  • @delly659 12/7/1976

  • thank you for posting this! and, in my opinion, screw the grammys... what the hell do they know that we don't? Alabama won grammys. Zevon lives forever.

  • @Mendon87 Actually it's the Rock n Roll Hall of fame that needs to put WZ were he so rightfully belongs.

  • @indaz1 You are correct about your IQ.

  • Who are the personnel besides Zevon, Browne, and Lindley? I will say the drummer is Rick Marotta, who played on LR sessions as well as Browne's. You only get a glimpse of the organ player at 3:30. I have no idea who it might be. The bass player could be Leland Sklar though you cannot get a good view, and he seems to be reading a chart at 2:46 to 2:56?

  • Warren had a beautiful touch on the piano. Not only a great songwriter, but a very "Professional Musician" as well. A genius who was truly unappreciated for his vast talent, and intellect.

  • @delly659 What killed me was in Warrens VH1 2004 makin' The Wind he and Jorge Calderon had probs with "Disorder in the House" Jorge goes tomorrow when we're fresh. Zevon goes, "Jorge I'm DYING. Aint NO "fresh in no morning!""

Always the sardonic jab, masterful and gracefullybrutal..

Had the pleasure of seein' Zevon and Jackson around 1979 at the old Mountain Aire show @ Frogtown Airport CA. "Werewolves" was hot then. And Les Dudek kicked it all off with CENTRAL PARK.. Ain't nothin better !!

  • @Mendon87 got that right

  • I heard of him in the 80's; got the song first from Linda R. album. Loved both versions. Someone stole my L.R. album though; wish I could get a CD of that one again.

  • whew glad i wont be seeing you again

  • @indaz1 true, but it's a test of character...if you ask someone about Zevon and they rave about his other music. Then you know you've found someone worth seeing again.

  • One of the great melodies in rock, imho.

  • Better than Dylan.
