It's a great thing to have shelves filled with food which you have, with great time and effort, canned into glass jars against a time of want. However, it would be a tragedy and a great loss to your family if all those jars came crashing to the floor if the slightest tremor of an earthquake came through your area. Take action now to put in place a retaining barrier that would hold those glass jars in place. After your 'Canned Good Earthquake Barrier' is in place on each shelf, add padding of some kind around each jar, or cardboard dividers between jars to prevent breakage.

  • Thanks for sharing these tips!!! I am going to get some child-proof locks! Katzcradul is a ROCK STAR!! Love her!!

  • @CHEECHAKOSMONTANA Yep. I count myself a very blessed man to be married to a gourmet cook... who is also 'on-board' with me in prepping.

  • This is awesome! I can't wait until we have our own place to be able to do this type of permanent installation. Renting is the pits when you're prepping lol. I know, patience young grasshoppa... lol

  • @TheEndeavoringFamily - Although you are renting and not allowed to build a permanent structure for food storage, you may be able to 'go horizontal instead of vertical'. There is usually space under beds for flats of canned goods. You may also discover that you can 'hide' things in plain sight. Things are not always what they appear. ("You will be ready... when you can snatch the pebble from my hand.")

  • Those are Great Shelves, Good Job .....mountainman

  • @mmlrc6atgmailcom I consider that a real complement, coming from you, Mountainman. Thanks.

  • @DenimNPearls0000 I 'make it a point' to promote the Katzcradul videos to preppers I know. In fact, I've used her videos to introduce people to the prepper community.

  • @snaps81625 Gee. I would, but 'my dance card is full'.

  • @Carlyn3676 Good idea. Thanks for posting.
