@Lilpopstar, aussiechic and biotech, you have no clue what you're talking about. She is an actress, she also sings, she is monotone, she has flaws, she's not Celine, but she never claimed to be. This is a catchy song and she makes it. The Beatles arrived and Elvis got on the scene, and it was unacceptable at the time, Scarlett is a different voice, despite her beauty, put Beiber, Madonna,Gaga and Britney combined and you still wont have the amount of talent Scarlett has.

“Break Up” is magic. Nice call PY. Maybe it hits so close to home for me because of my break up. But then all of PY’s tunes do it for me. And Scarlett, what can I say. An angel!

@LILPOPSTAR89 ... cont'd... Basically, what i'm trying to get at is she doesn't use any musical elements with her voice. No crescendos or decrescendos, no staccato, no legato. You catch my drift? There is nothing special about it. It's boring. Yes, she can stay on key the entire time, but there is no style or finesse to it. The main thing heard by the listener is the musical composition of the song (which is very catchy), not the "singing" itself. A singer's voice could stand alone & be superb.

@LILPOPSTAR89 This is why I think she can't sing. My definition of someone who can sing, would be someone who can do accapella and still sound good. Their voice is like multiple instruments, very complex. In my opinion, the timbre of her voice is horrible (esp. in that green grass song). She has the same boring voice throughout the song (simplistic), and uses no falsetto, no head voice, no mixed voice, no whistle register, etc. She does not do any vocal runs, and barely even uses any vibrato.

Just because you can stay on key doesn't mean you can sing. Personally, I think the timbre of her voice sounds horrible. She has no finesse to her music, no style, no range... it's all boring - right on par with Ke$ha, etc. I like listening to real singers like Mariah, Leona, Celine, Whitney (back in the day, not now), Aguilera, and so on. These SINGERS would put her to shame. Not only that, but there is a lot of undiscovered talent that would transcend scarlett's musical "efforts".

Alright, I'm not done yet. A woman is cute, so you hire her, then hope she can do the job. You didn't hire her because you knew she qualified, you hired her for eye candy. That's BS. Obviously, the world now knows Scarlett can sing. But shame on Pete Yorn for listening to his tallywhacker and not Scarlett's voice to begin with. Jerk. As a scientist, I hope I'm hired because I know what the hell I'm doing. God forbid I set the lab on fire. I also hope I'm not rejected because I'm decent looking.

Okay, let me get this straight. He had a project idea, wanted Scarlett for it, THEN thought it might be a good idea to ask if she could sing? F-it-all. Do men seriously still have no respect for women? Curiosity led me to checking out her career history, and I found she worked with Woody Allen. Does anyone else just want to gag? Men glom on to cute women because... *shrug*

about 10,000 less that have to help Madonna, Britney and the other so-called pop singers. Give credit where credit is due. She can wipe the ass off these other 2 fakers.
