@ToasterBoyYT I was wondering if anyone knew how to write to Pat McCormick. I guess it would be through KTVU of course. I thought it would be nice to let him know how important and special Charlie and Humphrey were...ARE ....to us. "The boys" as Pat calls them were my afternoon companions when I was hospitalized over the years as a kid.

Someone must have recorded them! There are lots of old tapes from the 80s still out there. Plus, all these public service announcements ran during children's programming, and lots of parents recorded those for their children. I used to have a few of these PSAs once upon a time, until I stupidly, stupidly taped over them as a young teenager. We just have to keep our eyes open! SFChronicle has posted some of the Charley and Humphrey bits.

Thanks for all the comments. It truly brought back some great memories. It would be awesome to see those videos and have someone do some documentary on what those kids are doing today! Hopefully someone might have recorded those PSA's on Beta when watching Ultraman or some show during that timeslot.

There was the one where kid says "I'm proud to be a Black American." During the spot, he's shown doing things with his father. "Dad and I like to...." etc. And yes, it was the Chinese American one that cited the doctors and lawyers part. It ended this way, I can still hear it now: "The next time YOU see Chinese Americans, think about their contribution to the Bay Area." I'd love to see all those again.
