Sky News - September 11th 2001.

Sky News coverage of the September 11th attacks in America. Includes the news of the first tower being hit by a plane, live pictures of the second tower being hit, first pictures from The Pentagon, the first tower collapsing (not shown live on Sky News but played out from tape seconds later) and the second tower collapsing live.

Its interesting to compare this to the version Sky News show on 11th September each year or the version currently on YouTube. The only other versions of this seem to be zoomed in (probably because the only recording has a clock or tape counter going across the picture) and don't include the Sky News clock or original graphics. This version is 'as broadcast'. The often repeated version also shows Sky covering the whole thing, the truth is that they kept handing over to CBS and Fox for most of the early coverage.

Its also worth noting that Kay Burley wasn't the only presenter working when this happened. She was presenting with Chris Rogers that afternoon, although he was quickly bumped in favour of Jeremy Thompson.

I read your post on TV Forum (can't respond there as my account's been locked for inactivity), and comparing this to the videos on the Sky News website- I do believe the graphics on the footage on the Sky website are original and genuine (minus the logo and clock anyway), they are exactly the same as what you see here, I struggle to believe they'd have recreated them so faithfully (especially as nit has the FTSE ticker, they'd have had no reason to recreate that and have it accurate).

@2001JamesTV. They are not exactly the same. Look at the Live DOG. The version on this video has space above and below the word live, the version on the Sky News website not so much.

It's possible they recorded the graphics in non video format. Maybe they recorded the meta data for the graphics and then played them back through different equipment some time after 2001. Like the slight difference between rendering something in FIrefox and the same thing rendered in Chrome. This would explain why the timing seems to be accurate between the two videos but the graphics are ever so slightly different.

I was in 7th grade when this happen smh.....I didn't really understand what terrorism was but when i found out It really traumatized me ... this still makes me cry .. its just soooo surreal... so many innocent people died ..its just so crazy, it looked like a scene from a movie smh

The ceremony at ground zero was broadcasted in german tv today... It was so touching to see the bereaved reading the names of all those innocents who lost their life that day... even a 10 year old boy who has never been able to get to know his father.

You have all reason to be proud of your brave firefighters and police officers who gave everything that was humanly possible that day!

deliberate poor quality of all the cameras that day. and you only do that to hide somthing. nasa do it to thier iss live stream cameras. they put a filter over it so you can't see the ufo's. same thing on 9/11 all deliberate poor quality despite all the news crews are there with the best quality cameras. i smell a rat

17 of the terrorists that flew the 4 planes came from Saudi Arabia yet the country was never punished for these terrorist acts, could it be that the Bush family has been buddies with them for many years ?

Iraq, a country that had no planes in the air at that time and had not participated was invaded and their dictator killed.
