Hi, I have a 8 foot haas avocado tree growing in the ground in zone 9a St.Augustine Florida. Do you think it will survive the winter? How can I protect it in the winter? The coldest it gets in the winter is 28 degrees F. Some winters it doesn't even get that cold. Thanks

Hi,I made the mistake of mixing steer manure with the soil during transplanting my Fuerte avocado trees.I did mix some compost also but now, they don't look good.I don't know if they went into a shock or simply dying...Would you recomend something ? I have been watering good too I guess...Maybe cut back on the water ??? Thanks

@Growquest Is this what causes some leaves to burn some? I have a Joey Avocado I think... might be Brazos Belle... but the leaves on it brown quite a bit and I've had it for 5-6 months now and it just seems to have been stunted on its growth. I water it with about a gallon every 2-4 days, depending on conditions... is this what causes my browning leaves? Any suggestions? I use a Avocado/Citrus(6-4-6 by Scotts) that I've added twice over the past 4-6 months.
Same issue as Miracale Grow. Too much salt. Steer manure is the worst of the compost junk sold. Never use steer manure or mushroom compost. SALTY. And streer manure is usually just dairy cow, REALLY SALTY.
Salt and toxins show up as leaf burn on the avocado tree. Use powered gypsum to help flush out the salt and water a lot, JUST MAKE SURE THE WATER is draining and not drowning the tree. It will re bud soon and grow out of it

Miracle Grow may be used by some home gardeners, but too high in its salt index for commerical growers and too expensive. Superthrive, I have met that old man, not sure if he alive any more, he may been drinking that stuff....lol. Superthrive won't hurt, I don't know if it will help either. Grow Power and other humic acide fertilizers are great for starting your tree.

a few questions..#1, will cow dong or chicken dropping promote growth!, #2 will ..........V-F 11 do anything for the avocados to produce fruit faster, ..#3 if my soil is not so CLAY like, can GYPSUM help it performance anyways..#4 from what you know does MIRACLE Grow work at all?..#5 what your take on SUPERTHRIVE....formula..

@pRiNcEzZSLaLa Cow or steere manure has way too salt in it and is very damaging to avocado trees. Chicken manure is used in avocado orchards by some growers but it needs to be composted down. Gypsum is to help remove salts from the soil of all western soils.

Hi, I am wondering if you have a video on the pinkerton avocado tree? I am wondering which will usually fruit earliest, or will be most prolific compared to others? Are there others that give more fruit than the hass (I ask because I have a hass tree already & I'd like to plant two or three others as well). thank you

Hass is not the heaviest producing tree. Bacon, Zutano and Mexicola's produce far more more fruit. But it is the rich buttery flavor of Hass, Sir Priz Hass, Lamb Hass and other hass that people typically want. The other trees are great for making salads or gaucamole. Mexicola's have a very zesty flavor.
