Gaudete! / Rejoice!
Gaudete! Christus est natus / Rejoice! Christ is born
Ex Maria virgine / Of the Virgin Mary
Gaudete! / Rejoice!

Tempus adest gratiae, / The time of grace has come
Hoc quod optabamus; / That we have desired;
Carmina laetitiae / Let us devoutly return
Devote reddamus. / Joyful verses.

Gaudete! .......... [x2]

Ergo nostra contio, / Therefore let our song
Psallat iam in lustro /; Now be sung in brightness
Benedicat Domino: / Let it give praise to the Lord:
Salus Regi nostro. / Greeting to our King.

Tempus adest gratiae, / The time of grace has come
Hoc quod optabamus; / That we have desired;
Carmina laetitiae / Let us devoutly return
Devote reddamus. / Joyful verses.

  • 1 of my favorite Libera songs. My 2 year old son requests to listen to it every time we get in the car. :) & yes, Ben's dimples are gorgeous!!

  • Only bit of my Catholic upbringing I miss.

  • Do my eyes deceive me or is that my favorite place in the world, Assisi, Italy? I went there on a People to People trip over the summer and it had to be my favorite place of all.

  • Love Tom! :D

  • voices of the world :)

  • Beautiful carol, beautiful performance, magnificent voices

  • @victori2100 you have learned "Classical Latin". The v=v is from Church Latin. All sung Latin uses church Latin pronunciation. You would hear the monks and priest at St. Peter's sing Gaudete like this video except the hard G. Basically Latin in the church is pronounced as modern Italian is. The hard G is actually a German/Slavic thing when speaking/singing Latin. As English is Germanic, and Libera is an English group, it is natural that they pronounce the hard G. Hope this helps.

  • I know a cracking owl sanctuary.
