Learn how to wash fruits and clean vegetables at http://www.fruitandvegetablewash.com . Water often isnt enough to clean food, wash away pesticide residue, and remove fingerprints that shoppers leave behind when searching for fruits and vegetables in produce bins. Even organic vegetables and fruits become contaminated. This video shows how to use food cleaners, such as fruit and veggie washes, for all nutritious foods. The most vulnerable produce, the infamous dirty dozen fruits and vegetables, can even become clean enough to eat safely.

Diane Mahoney, the founder of Consumer Health Research, hosts this video about how to clean food. She's very knowledgeable and presents some fascinating information about properly cleaning fruits and vegetables. Towards the end she shows how to wash vegetables so you know how to remove pesticides on fruit and clean lettuce or wash any other produce. Some homemade food washers can help, yet making washes from vinegar, peroxide and similar recipe ingredients isnt as convenient or appealing as other natural solutions.

Cleaning food doesnt have to take much time or require specialized vegetable washing equipment. A product that properly cleans fruits and dirty vegetables, Environné Fruit and Vegetable Wash (also spelled Environne), provides an example of a popular a vegetable washer and fruit washer. Sometimes chefs and other cooks refer to a produce washer like this as a natural vegetable wash, a veggie wash or a veg wash. Regardless what you call it, commercial products like these provide a simple way to clean lettuce or wash broccoli without a bitter and sour vinegar-vegetable aftertaste. And, if you have kids, you can easily transform green apple cleaning into a fun game.

  • is this a chemical too?

  • I've been using the Environne produts even though I am not sure they do what the company says they do. I could not find any independent scientific research supporting the company's claims (not that I have a reason to suspect). Why don't the company sponsor an independent, 3rd party research for the products' effectiveness so that we don't have to a blind believer (since they are a bit expensive)?

  • Why don't you post links to independent technical studies that prove the efficacy of these commercial washes in removing pesticides as opposed to just using plain water?

The studies I have read show that there is no significant difference between the two.

  • Before watching this amazing video, I never thought about all the subtle grime on fruits and vegetables that water alone doesn't remove - even with lots of scrubbing. I was also surprised about the stubborn filth on organic produce. Since the USDA, the FDA and virtually all nutritionists and doctors recommend that we eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, I think everyone who cares about their health should watch this video and find out how to properly remove all the unwanted residues.
