This is a Genuine G-Shot of actual New York Fire Department (FDNY) incident text and radio traffic of the rescue of stricken USA Airways Flight 1549, an Airbus 320 jet airliner, containing 155 passengers. All of which surived the emergency water crash landing into the freezing cold Hudson River due to the skill and masterful conduct of the well trained, experienced and disciplined Captain Chelsey "SUlly" Sullenberger, a true American hero, and the teamwork and cordination of his excellent flight crew. The compelling visuals of this textbook water ditching provided a combelling, exciting and a pride filled experience for us all and may well be live TV coverages finest and most memorial day of breaking news. This in stark contrast to the shame we all felt as our government failed to respond to those stricken by Hurrican Katrina in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. The miracle of Flight 1549 was indeed, a job well done by all, and a testament in the words of great men that "there is nothing wrong with America that cannot be cured by what is right with America". It is a fitting introduction to what lies ahead for all Americans that we as a people, as well as the newly sworn President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden can and must do together beginning this most historic inauguration day of Jan. 20, 2009, the last day of the disgraced Pres. George Bush's presidency of lies, distorted values and one wrong decision after another leaving being only a shameful legacy of nothing accomplished, missed opportunities and the butt of wordwide scorn for his idiotic behavior of "Bushisms" mangled words and ideas: a laughingstock to the entire world. We are all given a second chance and just as all those New Yorkers proved again on January 15, 2009, just as they did before during those tragic days following 9/11/2001 at the site of World Trade Towers twin disasters, both public servants and average Joe "The Citizens" can and will accomplish miracles together as we are America as we unite yet again to form a more perfect union. I spent the first 10 adult years of my life in public service elected as City Councilman and Mayor of my city at the young age of 24, and have spent the past 27 years of in public safety communications as a 911 police, fire and medical ambulance dispatcher for the City and County of San Francisco's Police Dept, and the civilianized Department of Emergency Management. For the first time in years I feel a great and joyous pride that the United States of America, an America true to our laws, faith and values have been given an opportunity to once again prove ourselves to be what we all deep down know and believe is right. "Yes we Can", for indeed, yes we have, and will again and again, leaving behind a proud and well earned legacy not for ourselves but for our children and countless generations to come by preserving our world and country for the sacred trust which is in our very hands. s/ Gary J. Mondfrans Former Mayor of San Bruno, California

  • are there any youtube videos of emergency responders GOING to this incident???

  • Civilans did most of the actual rescues, which is why I honored them as everyday heroes. I used some photos I found of FDNY at the distress plane, there may be more on YouTUBE if you do a search. I actually made several slightly different videos on Flight 1549, Captain Sully and all the heroes of Flight 1549 which brought about this miracle on the Hudson.

I hope you liked my video and gave it a favorable rating.

  • geese got sucked into BOTH engines, causing catastrophic engine failure shortly after takeoff and didn't have enough altitude to make it back to an airport

  • THey apparently flew through a flock of birds, sucking some into both engines and loosing power, and they couldn't make it back to the airport, so they had to belly-flop into the river.

  • some geese got sucked into the engine

  • just wondering.....why did the pilot have to ditch the plane?ive been wondering ever since it happened

  • Remember the Water Ferry got there nine minutes before anyone else.

Congratulations to the Captain and his quick decision making abilities, as well as the other first responders.
