to be honest i got the snare a few years ago simply becuase of my infatuation of joey, but the sound it produces is AMAZING...really tight,crisp sound which is really good for hip hop and funk drumming, not just metal shit. If you're looking for a similar sounding snare drum look at brass snare drums, you might be able to pick up one cheaper than a joey snare.
