I wrote this miniature this week as a modest tribute to the late John King, who died suddenly at age 55 last week. Although I only met him once a couple of years ago, his playing and his books on classical ukulele technique and interpretation and on early Hawaiian music were hugely influential, and inspirational to me.
I know he would be kind and encouraging if he heard this new piece, and would have some good tips to make it better.

  • beautiful composition, very touching.

  • Very, very nicely done. And I agree that John King's untimely passing leaves an unfillable void in the ukulele world.

  • Beautiful tribute to a beautiful man. I said this on a ukulele bulletin board, but it's worth saying again. With the passing of John King, the ukulele has lost one of the best friends it ever had.
